AJ Elgammal was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and raised in several cultural settings, including Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt, and Paris, France. This cosmopolitan upbringing paved the way for his distinct viewpoint on visual storytelling.

From a young age, AJ was intrigued by the magic of Hollywood cinema, predicting his future career in visual arts. Although he received a formal education in Marketing Management with a minor in Theater at Cal Poly Pomona, his actual passion was in the realm of cinema and photography.

Los Angeles became AJ's home for more than a decade, and its fast-paced lifestyle and plenty of opportunities helped shape his career. His work covers a variety of mediums, with significant projects including a Saatchi & Saatchi Heineken ad campaign, a lifestyle film for Maje Paris in partnership with GRLSWRL, and a striking collection of images featuring the world's greatest electronic music producers.

AJ's rare approach to photography, shaped by his experience in film and television, sets him apart in the industry. He sees each image as part of a bigger story, much like a scene in a film, resulting in a bold, cinematic aesthetic that frequently defies the norms.  This distinct vision has earned him several awards, including two International Photography Awards.

Complementing his professional work, AJ enjoys film photography. He considers this medium to be a "chemical miracle" in comparison to digital imaging, valuing the slower more deliberate process that renders a new texture to his body of work.

Looking ahead, AJ intends to go further into feature filmmaking while continuing to work on unique projects with fashion, editorial, and music businesses. His objective is to push the limits of visual narrative by combining his cinematic approach with the vitality of still photography.

With a career spanning continents and genres, AJ keep growing as a visual artist, constantly looking for new ways to capture the world through his distinct perspective.
